Similar to blue cheese, the most common medicine attributed to mold is penicillin. Penicillin is an antibiotic that was founded in 1928 and it was and still is considered a wonder drug. Guess what, we have mold to thank for penicillin and many other antibiotics.
Molds are used today, especially in some manufacturing industries to aid in the chemical reaction process. Enzymes are molds that can be used to speed up certain processes and these can be beneficial for industrial manufacturing needs.
As mentioned, mold is everywhere, and in the environment, mold helps in the breakdown of materials returns them to earth. In the decaying process, mold can grow on the hosts and help recycle organic material and nutrients back into the environment, so mold is good for the world!
