Milton is small suburban town to the west of Quincy. It also shares borders with Braintree, Randolph, Dedham, Hyde Park, Mattapan and Dorchester. As of 2010, Milton had a total population of just over 27,000. Milton is accessible via I-93, I-95, Route 1 and Route 28.
Milton has the look and feel of suburban town despite its close proximity to Boston. Milton residents can enjoy recreational activities and picturesque views of the Boston skyline at the Blue Hills Reservation. The Reservation also extends into parts of Quincy, Braintree, Canton, Randolph, and Dedham. The Reservation is also home to the Blue Hills Meteorological Observatory. Built in 1885, Observatory is one of the oldest of its kind. Milton residents can also enjoy the outdoors at Houghton’s Pond.
Other points of interest in Milton include the Suffolk Resolves House, which played an important role in the Declaration of Independence.
